It is used in water treatment and purification; in baking; in pickling recipes as a preservative, to maintain crispness; to prevent bleeding from small shaving cuts, wounds, itching, acne or treating feet odor. *
For cure of tonsillitis, mix 2 pinch of alum powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder in 1 cup of warm water and gargle. *
To purify water, use up to 1/4 tsp of alum per pint of solution. *
Caution: Consumption in large quantities (well, an ounce or more), is toxic to humans.
