Marathi Moggu is the dried tender fruits of Shalmali / Semul, popularly known as unopened floral buds of Kapok tree or the Silk Cotton tree, native of Karnataka, India.
It tastes similar to the combination of mustard seeds & black pepper, and the aroma is very powerful, distinctive and spicy.

Suggested Uses:

Used as a spice, adds a touch of authenticity to South Indian dishes, especially in Karnataka, Andhrapradesh and Chettinad cuisine. It is usually dry pan roasted or fried in a little oil before grinding and added with other spice blends for preparing signature rice dishes such as Bisi bele bhath, Vaangi Bhath and Pulao. It is used in a variety of spice blends and also as a flavor enhancer in soups, stews and saagu (mixed veg curries).

Health Benefits:

Marathi Moggu is rich in antioxidants and works as an anti-diabetic, helps in treating
diarrhea, healing wound, helps wonderfully in asthma medications.
