Rasam Masala Powder
Rasam Powder is a spice blend to prepare ‘Rasam”- an aromatic, light, sour and spicy
south Indian style lentil soup, an integral part of any South Indian meals. Rasam powder
provides the characteristic tangy, aromatic flavor to Rasam dish, also can be added to
enhance the taste of other South Indian dishes.
Ingredients: Coriander, Cumin, Red Chili Powder, Mustard Powder, Fenugreek, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Asafoetida ( Hing).
Simple recipe to prepare ‘Rasam’ Dish:
Cook 1 Cup Toor Dal in 3 Cups of Water, until soft, keep aside. In another pan cook 2 Cups Tamarind Juice,1 Cup Chopped Fresh Tomato, add 2Tbsp ‘Rasam Powder’,1 Tbsp Grated Coconut, 1 Tsp jaggary (Opt), Salt to taste, bring to boil, add cooked Dal, Stir, Simmer for 10 minutes, add few pieces of sautéed fresh Curry Leaves, garnish with chopped cilantro. ‘Rasam’ is ready to serve.
